A 22 year old woman has been arrested early this morning, with accusations of being part of the “Conspiracy of the Fire Nuclei” terrorist organization. The woman is one of five to be added to a growing list of people that the police is on the hike for. This latest development is part of a gradual process which aims to bring all people involved in terrorist activity and handling explosives to the police stations.
The young woman was arrested around 5:30 a.m. at a location near the Polytechnic faculty of the Athens University. At the time of the arrest, she was accompanied by two male suspects who were also brought in. Both men were later released as there was no evidence incriminating them for terrorist activities.
According to the Police in Athens, the main offences that the woman is primary suspect for are: organizing an illegal group for making and handling explosive substances and bombs, with the intention to damage private or public property and endanger human life; participating in a terrorist organization. The latest police campaign followed the arrest of four terrorist suspects in Halandri in October of this year. Evidence in the group’s hideout has lead to several new arrest orders issued by the authorities.
According to an early police investigation, members of the “Conspiracy of the Fire Nuclei” terrorist organization are responsible for placing the explosives targeting PASOK member of parliament Mimis Androulakis’ home. The bomb was installed in a pressure-cooker – a technique already known to the police and attributed to the already mentioned terrorist organization.
