The foreign ministers’ meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe started under exceptional security measures in Athens. Over 3000 policemen are patrolling the streets of the city and the Olympic Fencing Center, where the forum is taking place, looks like a strictly guarded castle. Traffic in the center of the Greek capital will be stopped in the afternoon, because the official guests will have a dinner at the New Acropolis Museum. Meanwhile anarchist organizations are holding anti-military demonstration in the center of Athens.

From all foreign minister the one, who did not arrive in Athens is US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton but on the other hand her Russian colleague Sergey Lavrov was greeted with great honors. He was greeted by Greek president Karolos Papoulyas and on Wednesday he will give a lecture in Megaro Mouzikis in Athens. During the early afternoon PM and Foreign Minister Georgios Papandreou will meet Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and at 06:00PM he will meet his Macedonian colleague Antonio Miloshovski.

The Foreign Ministers meeting was opened with a speech by President Karolos Papoulyas. “Greece wants and has good neighbor relations, cooperation and peaceful development not only with all Balkan countries but with all European ones,” stressed he in his forum speech.
