A strong earthquake of 4.7 on the Richter scale rocked the Greek island of Lesvos this morning. Athens Geodynamic Institute registered the quake at 08:12 pm.
According to seismologists, the epicentre was at sea, 40 km off the southern coast of the island and 90 km northwest of Izmir.
They add that the epicentre was at a great depth, namely 41 km according to initial estimates.
There are no reports of injured people and material damage for the time being.
