Anarchist outrages in the centre of Athens

Anarchists raged in the centre of Athens for another night and committed arson for hours despite the intervention of riot forces. A group of hooded young men in black clothes literally started bombarding the police forces with Molotov cocktails, dislodged marble pieces and stones, and the police responded with poisonous gas and light grenades.

The vandals used as a shelter the building of the Polytechnic School in Athens, where they managed to set fire to two luxury cars parked nearby and to completely burn them. A third car suffered from the attacks of anarchists too. The waste bins that the young men in black used as a cover for their atrocities were burning in the surrounding streets for hours.

The group of about 40 anarchists who caused the riots separated from the procession that was organised earlier in the centre of Athens. The police detained 12 people.
