The Greek police have apprehended another Bulgarian national accused of trafficking in illegal immigrants. The police officers checked a truck with Bulgarian registration plates driven by the 27-year-old man on the highway between Alexandroupolis and Komotini and found inside it 55 illegal immigrants, 47 of them being Syrian and 8 Iraqi citizens.
The police have seized the vehicle and two mobile phones, and apprehended the Bulgarian national who faced the prosecutor of the Rodopi region.
He was the second Bulgarian trafficker in illegal immigrants detained from the beginning of the week. On Monday, the Greek police in Evros region had apprehended another Bulgarian national who tried to drive into Greece 47 illegal immigrants. Dozens of Bulgarians are serving sentences in Komotini prison for trafficking in illegal immigrants in Greece.
