Another case of taking away a baby and of attempted illegal adoption has been revealed by the police in the city of Larissa. They have apprehended 5 people and are searching for 2 more.
As is already clear, a Romanian couple had taken the three-day-old baby of their daughter, aged 17, to give up the child for illegal adoption.
In connection with the case the authorities have apprehended the girl’s mother, aged 40 and with Romanian citizenship, and four Greeks as follows: one man, aged 39 who wanted to adopt the baby, two intermediaries in the illegal adoption, aged 65 and 62, and one woman, notary, aged 35.
The police are searching for a Romanian man, aged 43, who is the father of the 17-year-old girl and a Greek woman, aged 38, who wanted to adopt the baby.
The minor mother and the baby are in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ward of the local hospital.
The detainees, who are accused of taking away a minor child, violation of the law on adoption and issuing false documents, will be brought before the prosecutor of Larissa.
