In a letter to the chairman of the Greek Parliament, the deputy from Drama Christos Aidonis informs him that he leaves today the ranks of the parliamentary group of PASOK, which thus remains with only 24 deputies in the 300-seat Greek Parliament.
For the time being, Christos Aidonis will be an independent deputy but observers recall his good relations with another former socialist deputy and former minister, namely Andreas Loverdos, who has recently founded the RIKKSY formation.
In recent days, Aidonos has been harshly criticizing the Socialists for the "Lagarde List" scandal, which "executed morally the party" in his opinion. PASOK’s leadership responded immediately and characterized Aidonis’ leaving as "contemptible and illogical."
