Potami party leader Stavros Theodorakis said after his meeting with leader of New Democracy Evangelos Meimarakis that he supports the idea of holding the elections as soon as possible, adding that his party does not believe it is possible to form a new government within this parliament.
The leader of Potami specified that the elections have to be scheduled after all procedures provided for in the Constitution are complete, namely the exploratory mandates and the council of political leaders. Meanwhile, this parliament must make every effort to find solutions to the refugee and immigrant issue and ways to make Greek citizens overcome the feeling of insecurity.
Earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Dragasakis rejected the invitation of Evangelos Meimarakis to take over the post of prime minister in a government of national consent composed with the mandate of New Democracy.
By a post on Twitter Dragasakis firmly rejected any possibility of leading a government within the current parliament and suggested that the invitation was an attempt by New Democracy to serve "some of its own tactical purposes."
It is expected that Evangelos Meimarakis will meet with PASOK chairperson Fofi Genimata at twelve o’clock tomorrow, Saturday, although it now seems almost impossible for New Democracy to form a multiparty government within this parliament.
