Under draconian security measures Savas Xiros who is convicted for involvement in the terrorist organisation "17 November" has been taken out from Korydallos prison in Athens and admitted to the University Hospital in the city of Larissa to undergo medical examinations. A few hours after his brother Christodoulos failed to appear at the police station in Kalikratia, Halkidiki, a three-judge court panel in Piraeus has decided to break off his sentence for 30 days due to ill health. The convict has to undergo a number of medical examinations and he will stay in the hospital until they are completed.

Hospital director Thanasis Mitsios told the Athens News Agency that Savas Xiros is in a room in the oncology department of the hospital, which has been specially equipped for him. He is under close guard due to the strange coincidence with the "disappearance" of his brother.
