The anti-terrorism service has found a large quantity of heavy weapons in a car in Paleo Faliro. According to the police, 4 rockets of the type RPG, 4 RPG ignition mechanisms, an RPG rocket launcher, 4 F1 grenades, 4 ignition mechanisms for grenades, 3 Kalashnikovs, 7 cartridges for Kalashnikovs, fillers for Kalashnikovs, gloves and hoods have been discovered.

According to the police, the Opel Astra was stolen on 1 January from Keratea. It was discovered parked on Agias Kiriakis Street in Paleo Faliro about 10 days ago. A registration plate of another vehicle was also discovered in the car. The anti-terrorism service was monitoring the vehicle.

According to police sources, the police investigated the car with sniffer dogs and equipment and were aware that there were weapons in it, so they followed it with the hope that they will catch the perpetrators. However, other plans are not excluded either. Regarding the way in which the weapons were discovered, sources explained that antiterrorists had intercepted mobile phone calls among terrorists.

Besides what the purpose of the weapons was, there is another important question: is this case related to the escape of terrorist Christodoulos Xiros? According to the police, this is not excluded.

The third piece of the puzzle is the group which traffics anti-tank weapons and missiles in Greece and the way in which people planning terrorist attacks receive the weapons.

The weapons originate from the east and it is certain that they have not entered Greece by the ordinary way, in which, for example, guns for robbing stores are distributed.

An RPG rocket was fired at the building of the American embassy on 12 January 2007. The terrorist organization "Revolutionary Struggle" assumed responsibility for the act.

At the time, the Ministry of Public Order announced that it was a Chinese-made 40 mm rocket of the type RPG-7, (a copy of the Russian prototype), probably produced in 1974.

Following today’s discovery of missiles of the same type, the police also reminded about the activities of terrorist Nikos Maziotis, who has been missing together with his wife Panagiota Roupa.

A tank destroyer like the one which was discovered today has been discovered in a secret meeting place of the terrorist organization "Revolutionary Struggle" in Kipseli. It was proven that it was used for the launch of a rocket at the building of the American Embassy. 5 missiles of the type RPG-7, 2 firearms, an MP5 submachine gun, 3 grenades, improvised explosive devices and fuses were also discovered in the meeting place on the 5th floor of an apartment building on the corner of 8 Eginis Street and Idras Street.
