The third meeteng between the strikers in the "Hellenic Steel Company" SA, its management and the representatives of the Ministry of Labour turned out fruitless. The management wants to reduce wages, workers refuse to agree.
Proposals of the employers are for the collective agreements to be suspended for at least three years as well as the increases according to them. Some of the employers even insist on reducing the statutory minimum wage by 20%.
Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos called for the resignation of the defendant Yannis Kapeleris, who is suspected of an attempt for illegal remission of fines for fuel smuggling worth 15 million euro.
