Mythical Sparta, the greatest military force in ancient Greece, today is a city with interesting sights, but also a starting point for excursions into the beautiful surrounding areas and villages.
With the motto "Let’s get our city back," merchants, municipal authorities and hundreds of private companies aim at changing the appearance of the centre of Athens and reviving it.
Like many other recent attempts by Greek governments, a compromise has been reached but ineffective again. Greek parliament is expected to vote a law that does not repeal the restrictive criteria for issuing a taxi licence, but only changes them.
"We will not allow such a thing, this is an election trick," said the Mayor of the northern Greek municipality. The residents of Neapoli and Kozani, supported by regional authorities, will oppose the project.
