Argument about 800 euro was the reason for the double murder in the Peloponnese

The failure to arrange the purchase of anabolic steroids worth 800 euro was the motive for the brutal murder of the two young men in Kalamata on Tuesday morning. The suspects detained for the brutal crime are two local boys, aged 19, who were interrogated at the police station of Kalamata. Police sources claim that the suspect who was arrested on Wednesday confessed to his guilt during the interrogation. The second young man appeared at the police station on his own and said that he had participated in the crime. He is also under arrest and is interrogated.

The investigation found the hunting rifle with which the perpetrators had shot the victims and the vehicle with which they had transported the bodies of two young men to the precipice near Kambos in the West Mani municipality. The weapon and the vehicle used by the two young men who are considered as the perpetrators of the crime are the family property of the 19-year-old man who was arrested and questioned by the police until late Wednesday evening.

The victims of the brutal murder are Konstantinos Sgouros, aged 26, from Kalamata and Yiannis Komatis, aged 25, a regular military from the island of Samos. Both victims were shot in the back and multiple injuries with the rifle were inflicted on them. According to the investigating police officer, the two young men had been shot at a distance of less than 10 cm, one of them being wounded in the neck. The examination of the victims and their wounds leads to the conclusion that the perpetrators had shot them in the back.

According to the initial data on the investigation, the perpetrators had attempted to obtain dietary supplements from the 26-year-old Sgouros, giving him about 800 euro for this purpose. The questioned 19-year-old man (living near Kambos where the two bodies were found) told the police that the 26-year-old Sgouros had violated their arrangement and refused to give him the supplements, which was probably the cause for the disagreement that the perpetrators and the victims had decided to settle on Monday night. As revealed yesterday, the two victims had had fun with their girl-friends at the bar of a coastal hotel on the Kalamata-Kardamili road. Shortly before 1 am, the two young men left the bar saying that they had to settle something. They left on the motorcycle of one of them and headed to the place where they met with their killers. According to a senior officer involved in the investigation, the meeting had taken place near Kalamata. The exact circumstances surrounding the murder were not fully clarified until late last night.

The testimony of the 19-year-old man

The arrested 19-year-old man states in his testimony that the two victims were shot by his peer who is missing. He also points out that he did not know the 25-year-old Yiannis Komatis, thus confirming the original version of the police that the military was spending his vacation in Kalamata and he had simply accompanied his 26-year-old friend during the fatal meeting without being involved in the sale of the dietary supplements.

Yiannis Komatis, aged 25, was serving as a regular soldier with the rank of corporal in Karlovasi on the island of Samos, and he was from the village of Kokkari. His father works at the fire service in Vati on the island of Samos. The 25-year-old man has two sisters and he was very keen on bodybuilding. He wrote on his Facebook profile that he wanted to open a shop for dietary supplements and sports goods.

Konstantinos Sgouros, aged 26, participated in bodybuilding competitions and in 2011 won the prize of the Mr. Odyssey competition. He was from Neromilos village and his family lives in the city of Kalamata. He has two brothers, one works as an insurer and the other at a supermarket. His body was covered with tattoos of nationalist and Nazi slogans. Moreover, both victims had on their shoulders tattoos in the form of stars that, according to experts, are a symbol of devotion to the Russian mafia and mean, "We do not bow to anyone."
