A group, which has been discovered by the police, has created amusement parks and circuses without any safety requirements using forged documents. The 26 travelling circuses and amusement parks created visited various regions of Greece over the past two years, using forged documents related to the safe operation of their equipment.
A total of 5 people are involved in this case: 3 Greeks and 2 foreigners. Charges of a criminal nature for forgery, issuance of false certificates, frauds and other offences have been pressed against them. The police investigation made it clear that the 57-year-old leader of the group, with the help of his collaborators, has created 3 virtual companies, with the object of activity being travelling circuses and amusement parks in various parts of the country.
The events organized by the 57-year-old man brought him revenues for which he had not paid the relevant taxes.
The leader and his other 4 accomplices, instead of appointing qualified staff required to ensure the security of amusement parks, falsified signatures and seals of engineers and electricians.
After that, they submitted counterfeit documents in municipalities and in this way received work permits and locations for the amusement parks.
In parallel, the perpetrators forged a seal of the Thessaloniki region, with which they authenticated signatures of assurances concerning the establishment and operation of these facilities.
The investigation proved that since April 2012 to date, 26 travelling circuses and amusement parks were situated in various municipalities.
It is estimated that due to the illicit activities of the fake companies, besides the danger engendered by using forged documents for the secure operation of amusement parks, the Greek State has suffered damage to the amount of 888,761.68 euro of unpaid taxes.
The case was forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office in Thessaloniki.
