Two criminals robbed a Eurobank branch in Aliveri on Euboea Island. The police arrested one of them but the other one managed to run away.
The police arrived at the moment the robbers got into a stolen car and fled in an unknown direction. They followed but failed to capture them, even though the bandits changed their car again. When they arrived near a hotel complex the two brave men jumped from the car and fled. Police pursued them, and exercised a gunfight in which one of the perpetrators was wounded.
In the abandoned vehicle police found the money and weapons. The search continues on the second robber. The area around hotel Holidays in Evia Eretria Village Club is being searched. Directorate of Police on the island of Euboea has requested assistance from the special counter-terrorism office and deputy police chief Yiannis Rahovitsas and police helicopter, are traveling to the scene. The hotel staff is instructed not to leave the building because there is a danger the escaped criminal to take hostages.
