Dimitar Berbatov will start the match with the Azerbaijani team Gabala on the reserve bench. Team coach Igor Tudor made the announcement at a press conference last night and his explanation was laconic, "Berbatov has not played in matches for a long time. Let the match start and we will see." PAOK is a visiting team in Baku within the Europa League tournament, in which Gabala managed to disqualify Panathinaikos Athens. "I watched the two matches between them, Gabala is a difficult team but our goal is to win in Baku," said Igor Tudor.
Yesterday the PAOK team left for Baku and this is Dimitar Berbatov’s first trip abroad wearing the black-and-white jersey. When tourists in Macedonia Airport in Thessaloniki recognized the Bulgarian football star, they queued for autographs and Mitko refused nobody. The local media report that five PAOK fans have even set off to Baku by car to support their favourite team. The match will start at 8:00 pm today and club owner Ivan Savidis will be personally present at the stands.

Meanwhile, the new teammates of Berbatov keep on praising him. "Players like Berbatov fill stadiums, having such a player is great for PAOK and Greek football. He has made the audience believe in us and now we have to achieve results to justify this faith," said Slovak Robert Mak. He also admitted, "If I was told a month ago that Berbatov would play for PAOK, I would laugh. I did not believe that such a thing could happen. But PAOK wanted him, he wanted it and now this is real."
