The news of Dimitar Berbatov’s transfer excited the football public in both Greece and Bulgaria. In this connection we asked, “What is your forecast for Dimitar Berbatov’s football career in PAOK?”

To remind you, before proceeding to the summary of the poll results, that the first football derby in the Greek championship between the teams of PAOK Thessaloniki and AEK Athens will start at 8:30 pm today at Tumba stadium. It is expected that Bulgarian football star Dimitar Berbatov will play as titular in the match.

Football fans on the Bulgarian page of GRReporter support the eminent Bulgarian striker. 31% of them are of the opinion that Berbatov will lead PAOK to the championship title in the Greek championship. 24% are convinced that he has  every change of becoming the top scorer of the tournament. 16% of respondents say they are not interested in football but are glad that our compatriot glorifies the name of Bulgaria abroad. Only 6% consider it possible that the team of Berbatov will be successful in the European football championships.

On the other hand, 24% of readers believe that the crisis in Greece has affected sports as well, which will have an impact on the ambitions of PAOK. This group of our readers conclude that whatever the plans of the club of Dimitar Berbatov are, they will be swept away by the overall situation.

Berbatov's reputation affects the results on the English page of our site too. 33% of respondents see him as the future leading goal scorer of the Greek championship. 19% extend their forecast to the European tournaments, seeing Berbatov as the key player in achieving success in them. 10% are of the opinion that the striker will be the one that will take PAOK to the championship. The same number of readers, over 10%, are not interested in football but are glad that Bulgaria’s famous footballer has the opportunity to glorify the name of his home country.

At the other end, we will again put the option according to which the negative impact of the Greek crisis will prevent the realization of the plans of the new team of Berbatov. A whole 29% believe that the crisis will have a huge negative impact on the performances of Greek sports and on football in particular.

To finish with the opinion of Greek readers who are so exuberant and welcomed Berbatov in Greece in the warm southern manner. Of course, those include PAOK fans but also the whole sports community in our southern neighbour. 35% of our Greek readers believe that Berbatov is the new leading goal scorer of the football championship. 24% are of the opinion that Berbatov, together with his team, will be able to reap success both at stadiums at home and in Europe. 12% see the next Champions Cup of Greece in the hands of the Bulgarian player. The same percentage of readers or 12% say that although they are not interested in football, they are glad that such a talented football player has the opportunity to glorify the name of Bulgaria in their country.

About 18% of our Greek readers think that the crisis in Greece will have an enormous impact on both sports in general and on football in particular.
