A bomb exploded outside the house of shipping magnate Nikos Tsakos who lives on the corner of Roberto Galli and Propileon streets in the Acropolis neighbourhood. The explosion caused only material damage, without casualties or injuries. Some minutes earlier, an unknown person had called Eleftherotypia newspaper and warned of the bomb. The police were able to cut off the area and to evacuate the buildings nearby and Nikos Tsakos’ house where there was a private security guard together with three servants.
The bomb exploded at 8:31 pm, it was powerful and smashed the windows of neighbouring buildings and damaged several cars. The makeshift device was placed in a bag near the fence of the house. Experts from the anti-terrorism forces think that the bomb remains are very similar to those from the explosion in The Mall Athens on 20 January this year.
