Telephone bomb threats prevented at least three private schools in Athens from carrying out their classes. Unlike public schools, where classes were cancelled due to the general strike announced by the unions, the students at private schools attended them to study the school subjects, as every day.
Shortly before 09:00 am, however, the English Byron College received an anonymous call in which a male voice informed that there was a bomb in the building. The students were immediately evacuated to a nearby basketball court.
The school building was examined by police officers with dogs trained to detect hidden explosives. They found no bomb and shortly after twelve o’clock, the students returned to school.
The parents associate the call with the strike held and the fact that public schools were closed today. According to the information available to GRRerpoter, other private schools in Athens received such threats as well.
