On Christmas Eve, the Greek police detained in Orestiada a Bulgarian trafficker of illegal migrants. While checking a truck with Bulgarian licence plates, the police found 22 passengers hidden as a commodity, all of whom were Syrian citizens. The police detained the 40-year-old Bulgarian.
The man is an old acquaintance of the Greek authorities that repeatedly detained him while he was trying to transport migrants from Turkey to the Greek region of Evros. So far, the trafficker has always been off with bail.

The Greek police detained a Greek citizen, aged 46, wanted by the Bulgarian authorities for trafficking of Africans from Greece to Bulgaria. An international arrest warrant for him was issued in early December by decision of the district prosecutor in Oryahovo. A search of his house found illegally owned weapons too.
