A car accident in Agios Oros with one dead, two seriously injured, and another 15 mildly injured was announced today. A truck trailer, which was transporting pilgrims to the Saint Pavel monastery got detached, which cost the life of a 46 year old Greek and the other 17 people inside were injured.
When the trailer fell the man lost his life and a 71 year old Cyprian citizen and a 28 year old Sirian were seriously injured and transported with a helicopter to a hospital in Thessaloniki. The rest of the pilgrims were transported to a hospital in Poligaro, Chalkidiki, so they can be examined.
Based on primary information the accident happened on the black road connecting the port and the monastery. The reasons for the accident are being cleared out by the police department in the region.
