The accident happened about an hour ago on the 60th kilometre of the Athens-Lamia highway in the region of Shimatari, in the lane to Athens.

In addition to cars, the accident involves one bus and two TIR trucks. The bus was transporting schoolchildren from Athens, who were returning from a trip to Kavala. They are all safe. According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred in an area that is undergoing repairs but there is no road marking. It is raining heavily in the region and the road surface is slippery. Skai TV reports that the crash was caused by a driver who had lost control of his car due to the slippery road.
