Demonstrations of civil unrest developed into open clashes with police in most Greek cities. In Thessaloniki Special Forces combating civil unrest used gas in order to spread protesters, some of whom fainted from the choking gases. Particularly intense is the situation around Aristotle University, where youths throw stones at police and burn trees and rubbish bins. Anarchists took over the center of Employment on Olympus Street, and there are also riots in front of the Chief Secretariat of Macedonia and Thrace. There are caused material damages to banks, ATMs and stores at Ethniki Amina street.
Explosive is the situation also in Patras, where today were held three general strikes. Protesters confronted the police who used tear gas. Local municipal employees joined the protest and went out on the streets in trash-collecting vehicles and tractors.
In Ioannina demonstrators broke three ATMs and the windows of branches of Agricultural Bank and Alpha Bank. In Corfu Left supporters occupied the building of the Regional Administration.
