live Collision between Evangelos Venizelos and Alexis Tsipras

SYRIZA is a force that is pulling Greece back, Evangelos Venizelos insisted in his closing speech before the vote on those who will be investigated in connection with the "Lagarde List" case. He called the parliamentary opposition the "allies of regression" and an "organization spreading false news."

In his opinion, the aim of the radical left is to remove PASOK and the way in which this could happen is by destroying the leader of the Socialist Party. That is why SYRIZA insists on putting the name of Venizelos at the centre of the investigative parliamentary commission. He accused the radical left of being unable to stay at the appropriate level for a parliamentary opposition and said, "Gentlemen of SYRIZA, you are unable to deal with your new parliamentary role."

"Those who supported you until today (the lenders) will throw you tomorrow to the dogs like you are now throwing the weak link (George Papakonstantinou) to them to get rid of the responsibility," said in response the leader of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras. He insisted that actually, Antonis Samaras should be the one to be held responsible for the "Lagarde List" case.

"The Prime Minister is the one who saves his collaborators from the coalition government," said Tsipras. He stressed that the" Lagarde List" concealed a series of scandalous transactions muddled in previous years and this was the main reason for the present government to hide the "Lagarde List".

While the spirits in the plenary hall were rising, the social media were flooded with thousands of comments about the debates concerning the "Lagarde List". The comments and statuses on Facebook and Twitter - some of them funny, others angry or just outraged - were updated along with the speeches.

"The more Venizelos talks, the more likely it is for him to irritate New Democracy and the Democratic Left and to make them draw a bead on him," a Twitter user comments on the 40-minute speech of the leader of PASOK.

Another user of the social network said that Tsipras remained politically illiterate and Venizelos was still better protecting his positions in parliamentary debates.

One comment, however, won the championship among the flood of comments and it was that "Four urns and a Funeral", which would surely refer to George Papakosntantinou’s political career and public reputation, were expected. The initial plan of seven boxes and three votes has been repealed and replaced with the proposal of the ruling coalition for four separate boxes for George Papakonstantinou, Evangelos Venizelos, George Papandreou and Lucas Papademos. The discussions about the technical details of the vote on the responsibility of the political persons involved in the "Lagarde List" scandal "filled up" the debates and shifted the vote.
