Grigor Dimitrov at Davis Cup 2013
The coming of Grigor Dimitrov to Athens is the event of the year for Greek tennis, as clearly indicated by the local media. A tennis player of this calibre (number 16 in the world ranking) has not played on the Greek courts for a long time and if the match with Bulgaria for the Davis Cup were not held here, probably we would not have the chance of seeing such a star for a much longer time, writes sports website tennisit.gr.
As officially announced by Bulgarian team coach Todor Enev, Grigor Dimitrov is among the players who will participate in the tournament with Greece for the Group II Europe/Africa Relegation Play-off. It will be held from 4 to 6 April on Helioupolis clay courts in Athens. In addition to Dimitrov, the team also involves Dimitar Kutrovsky, Tihomir Grozdanov and Dinko Halachev, who rank 403rd, 411th and 148th respectively.
tennisit.gr notes that Greece's chances of winning and remaining in the group are minimal. The hosts will be represented by their best players at present, namely Theodoros Angelinos, 283rd in the world, Alexandros Jakupovic 504th, Markos Kalovelonis, 694th and Charalampos Kapogiannis, 972nd. The admission to the matches will be free.
The Facebook page of Helioupolis Tennis Club contains the video showing how Grigor Dimitrov leaves the court to help the assisting girl who is sick and the comment below the video reads "This is Grigor’s strongest shot! A great sportsman is known for his actions".
