The revelations about the existence of 'Plan B', according to which Greece had to introduce a national currency by creating a parallel banking system and theft of public equipment and personal data, sparked yet another scandal around the now former finance minister Varoufakis. Therefore, we asked in our poll: "Do you think there are sufficient grounds that Yannis Varoufakis be brought to trial?"

As is already our tradition, at the start we summarise the views of GRReporter's Bulgarian readers. 45% of them are of the opinion that through his pronouncements Yannis Varoufakis practically has admitted that he had committed treason. Unlike them, about 20% of our readers believe that someone else is trying to wash his hands by scapegoating the former finance minister. 19% share the opinion that Varoufakis might as well be culpable, but Greece's judicial system probably won't be set in motion. 16% of our readership sees Varoufakis as someone who was genuinely trying to find a solution to the Greek crisis.

The vote of the English version readers is quite different. 39% of them see the former finance minister as a politician who is genuinely committed to finding a way out of the crisis. 28% believe that his statements are recognition for treason. 20% doubt that the country's justice system will spring up and take measures. About 13% of the English-language readers have the opinion that others are trying to wash their hands by dumping all the blame for what happened around 'Plan B' only on Varoufakis.

Our Greek page readers' votes look split right down the middle in comparison with the other two audiences. 38% of Greek readers are convinced that someone else is trying to shake the blame off his shoulders and Yannis Varoufakis comes as a handy scapegoat. 31% see the former finance minister as a professional who has sincerely sought a way out of the severe crisis. 24% are adamant that through his statements Varoufakis has publicly admitted he had acted against Greece's interests, and this qualifies as treason. Only 7% doubt the effectiveness of the judiciary and are sceptical that it would take the necessary actions.

As we see, Yannis Varoufakis' controversial personality has once again turned into a bone of contention in our readers' perceptions.

At the height of the tourist season, we ask you in our latest poll: "Which is your favourite Greek island?" The hot political summer also adds a few political hues to the poll, so be sure to select the correctly motivated answer from those below the question.
