There are less thefts, robberies and burglaries throughout the country for the second quarter of this year compared with the first quarter, and the police has revealed the perpetrators for more crimes. According to the police these are the first positive result of the new policy for fighting crime for the period 2010-2014, and especially in the fight against "ordinary" crimes - theft and robbery. For the reduction of crime the most important role is played by a group of motorized policemen, operating since the end of March.
For the whole country for the quarter from April to June compared with the first quarter of the year, according to data for the Attica region, in which there is a large number of crimes, they have been reduced by half a supermarket thefts and from 8 per week they became 4, the robberies with burglary in banks and post offices has fallen from 12 per week to 3, the robberies have decreased 542 per month, the housebreakings and shop burglaries have decreased with 575 per month, and car thefts fell by 140. The bag lifting has also been reduced 199 less.
For Thessaloniki data also shows a decline in crime as theft and robbery have decreased from 3321 to 2735 for three months, the thefts of supermarkets has decreased in half, and only two picks for the quarter were reported by banks and Posts. There is an increase only in gas station robberies from 2 for the first three months of the year to four in the second quarter. Drivers can also take a breath, since data show that the fight against car thefts is also going well and a the monthly car thefts decreased by 38. A small decline is recorded in robberies of stores in Thessaloniki.

Overall in the country is recorded a decline in crime as the most remarkable are the results in the fight against theft and robbery, but compared to the total number of thefts has become evident that it can be expected more from the police. For example, in the first quarter were made 23,552 thefts and robberies, which from April to June fell to 21,230, but the number for burglaries of supermarkets has fallen by from 154 to 70.
Remarkable improvement is noted in the reveals of cases of thefts and burglaries and thefts of cars - the whole country reported 1,417 more revealed thefts, 261 more reveled thefts of cars and 166 more revealed robbers.
Finally, with regard to murders during the first three months in the country have been committed 90 murders across the country. Most of them have been executed in the two major cities in the country - 52 in the Attica region and Thessaloniki, or 57.77%. For 49 murders has been discovered the motive why they were made, and in 29 of them does not exist a relationship between the murderer and victim. Eight murders were committed because of economic differences, 5 because of love reasons 16 because of personnel quarrels, and 10 were committed during robberies.
It should be noted that this year crime is recorded differently because it is required to record electronically all cases during the day in Police On Line and at the same time using the GIS system for creating an accurate maps of the crime in the country. To calculate the reduction in cases per day (robberies of banks, shops, tax offices, etc.) is taken into account the business days only and not all days.
