The crisis is hitting everywhere and has no mercy even to the diva of the Greek music Despina Vandi. And if for the average Greek it might not be a huge problem to move to a cheaper house, it is certainly not the same when you are accustomed to luxury and splendour.
So, Despina Vandi and Demis Nikolaidis said they are selling their house ... actually their small palace, because only the value of the house is about €2 million and with the adjacent area of around 10 acres it is worth over €4 million.
But these are technical details. What is the reason? Is it the crisis or something else is happening? Because when a couple is selling their house two things happen – either the money go to hell, or a storm of scandals is coming.
Well, the financial situation of the star couple is not in its best - Despina is no longer selling her albums like she sold them years ago. She is no longer number one and this affects her pay, which (as rumours say) has decreased by half, reads an article in the High magazine. And her performances are limited in number – if she was singing five nights a week before, this winter she will have performances only twice a week and you could count her summer concerts on your finger-tips. It is clear the golden era, when Despina earned for one evening what a private employee earns for an entire year, has gone by!
On the other hand, Demis Nikolaidis is not in his best shape either and he is wondering how to step on his feet again. About the house they sell, however, we know it is in Kefalari, painted in white and gray and has wooden black decorations. There are cameras everywhere to record everything. An alley of flowers goes along from the entrance of the house that resembles more of a five-star hotel. Despina herself made the interior design of the house and there are many trees and flowers in the yard as well as a 5x5 playground, a swimming pool and a small pond. It may seem strange, but the singer herself has planted her garden and even various vegetables, which made her friends kidding her. But Despina did not care particularly and replied: "But when the vegetables ripen you will not want me to give you!" And now all this will go into someone else’s hands ...
But Despina is not giving up yet and is holding her career under control. In an interview for the OK show on MAD TV, she said she really was offered to host the X Factor talent show in case that Sakis Rouvas can not participate this year. But apparently she has refused using the excuse that this is a completely unknown field to her. She also admitted that she would not let her daughter Melina to participate in a reality show. And, of course, the TV host asked the all- favourite question whether someone is watching Turkish TV series and what is their opinion on them. Despina openly resented "How it is possible to watch Turkish TV series when Greece has so good filmmakers and actors.” To the provocative question of whether she prefers to gain weight or cut her hair, Despina replied that she was inclined to gain 15 kg in weight if she shoots in a movie.
