UK Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chris Bryant is optimistic regarding solving the Cyprian problem after visiting Cyprus. He said that right now is the moment to find a solutions and this opportunity might pass and not come back. This is why he urged both sides to take advantage of the situation until they have time. Mr. Bryant compared the solution of the Cyprian problem to a marathon and said that the final round is close.

The British Minister underlined that the decision should not be only in the interest of Cyprus but also of Greece, Turkey and Great Britain. Mr. Bryant also noted that Turkey’s road to EU integration should not be blocked in December, so that it has a motif to fulfill its obligations. Democratic Alarm party leader Nikos Anastasiadis said that his impression from the discussions with Mr. Bryant is that Britain will not intervene in the Cyprian problem unless it is asked to.

On a three hour meeting the Cyprian President Dimitris Hristofias and Cyprian Turks leader Mehmed Ali Talat discussed migration topics regarding citizenship and statute of fugitives. The two leaders agreed to meet again at the beginning of December. Before this meeting their advisors will meet, in order to specify the economy and property topics.

Cyprian Turks leader Mehmed Ali Talat said that despite the slow progress of the negotiations, he and Cyprian President Dimitris Hristofias agree on many subjects. Mr. Talat noted that the international community and the UN need to to be more active in assisting with the solution of the Cyprian problem.
