Presidential candidate of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades is enjoying a significant lead over his two main rivals. Apparently, however, he will not be able to collect more than 50% of the votes and the second round of the elections will be held on 24 February.
After 91% of the voting-papers were counted, it became clear that Anastasiades had won 45.28% of the votes, followed by Stavros Malas - 27.05%, and George Lillikas - 24.94.% Official results showed that Exit polls were wrong, since these had predicted that there would not be a second round, as well as that Malas would rank second, with a significant lead over Lillikas.
A total of 545,189 people were eligible to vote.
