Greece’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that, at 11:00 am tomorrow, Minister Nikos Kotzias will meet with Bulgarian counterpart Daniel Mitov. At 12:30 pm, the two will make joint statements before the media and will have a working lunch afterwards.
Later, at 2:30 pm, the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet with US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland.
GRReporter recalls that Energy Ministers of Greece Panos Skourletis and Bulgaria Temenuzhka Petkova had a meeting with coordinator of US international relations in the field of energy Amos Hochstein in Athens last week. The reason for it was the delayed construction of the gas connection between Greece and Bulgaria, which will supply the country with natural gas from Azerbaijan thus breaking its dependence on Russian supplies.
After the meeting, it became clear that both sides were interested in speeding up the construction process of the interconnector. This week another meeting between the Energy Ministers of Bulgaria and Greece is due to take place, at which they will discuss the details to trigger the project.
