Several months after the tragic story of 4-year-old Ani, who was killed, and whose body was annihilated, by her own father, the case is taking a new direction. The Greek police are now sure that the murder involved another person, as they have found the DNA of a third person at the scene.
The authorities apprehended the 27-year-old father Stanislav Bakardjiev as the main suspect in the murder of the child, who admitted during the questioning that he had annihilated the corpse of the child but refused to admit that he had killed her alone. The man is now in Corfu prison under exceptional security measures.

The child's mother, 25-year Dimitrina Borisova, was not in Greece on the day of the murder. Due to the contradictions in her testimony and the frequent changes in them, the investigators suspected her too and she is now in custody in Thebes women's prison.
Witness Niki or Nazif Ahmedov is involved in the case too. Physically he is in Bulgaria and he did not appear for questioning before the Greek investigators. According to Stavros Georgiou, a defender for the child's mother, Niki may be required to testify in Athens only if he is charged with a felony.
