A month before the presidential elections in Egypt which are about to end the transitional period after the fall of Hosni Mubarak’s regime in January 2011 and the overthrow of Mohammed Morsi last June, Egyptian politicians have started a campaign in Europe to present "the real situation in the country".

The first stop on this journey was Athens. About 20 representatives of parties and political movements as well as people operating in the field of arts and media arrived at the embassy of Egypt to give a press conference for the local media.

"We decided to present the real situation in our country because we believe that the information disseminated is misrepresented," said chairman of the Istiqlal political movement Ahmed El Fadaly. In his words, the disinformation is the work of the Muslim Brotherhood, "which is funded with millions of dollars by Qatar in order for it to continue its terrorist activities."

The delegation members shared the opinion that the emirate generously funds the Islamists following the orders of the United States. They said that Washington seeks to destroy all the Arab countries and has the support of other states such as Israel and Turkey. "The funding comes from Turkey, Israel and Qatar whereas human and arms trafficking is carried out by Libya, Gaza and Sudan. At the same time, the Muslim Brotherhood terrorizes the citizens of Egypt, whether they are Muslims or Christians," said party spokesman Tagamo Nabil Zaki.

Former Minister of Labour Kamal Abu Eita said he has given up the ministerial post by his own wish in order to support the revolution and continue to fight among protesting citizens. He however stressed that he supports the present government in Cairo and its decisions and actions.

"Today life in Egypt is gradually stabilizing. The citizens of Egypt are already aware of their rights and they had requested the government of the country to democratize itself. When it failed the people did not hesitate and, led by young people last June, came out in the streets again with the same request. Meanwhile, we have been able to accept a new constitution that has introduced many changes. It has removed many types of discrimination, limited the powers of the President, and increased those of the parliament, and it guarantees that every Egyptian can vote in the elections only once. We call on Europe to help us deal with organized terrorism in the country and to make the final step of the "road map" for the exit of Egypt from this transitional period," added Abu Eita.

After Greece, the delegation will visit Germany and Switzerland, and another group of politicians and public officials will tour France, the Netherlands and Austria for the same purpose.
