The forthcoming winter in northern Greece is expected to be particularly cold and accompanied by heavy snowfall, despite warm weather in November, writes the Greek newspaper Imerisia.
The publication cites the forecast of weather website Greek-Weather.org, according to which many regions will find themselves under the influence of the El Niño phenomenon, especially after the last ten days of November.
According to the forecast, there will be heavy snowfall, frost and violent storms with lightning, and tornadoes in the regions of Thrace, Macedonia, Epirus, the Ionian Sea, Thessaly, central Greece and even the Peloponnese.
The authors of the forecast are warning that severe winter in Europe will replace the warm weather of November surprisingly quickly because of the El Niño phenomenon.
