Yesterday evening, an explosion shook the Exarcheia home of State Minister Alekos Flambouraris. The minister was home, but reportedly with his life out of danger and feeling well.
An unknown number of people have lobbed two Molotov cocktails at Flambouraris' house on Voulgaroktonou street. As a result, two cars were set on fire.
According to police sources, the anarchist community has been more active during the last 24 hours.
This is the second anarchist attack against Flambouraris' home. Back in November, unknown individuals sprayed his front door with flammable liquid and set it on fire.
The current attack has caused damage, but fortunately no human life has been threatened.
SYRIZA's statement related to the attack talks about its murderous nature; the statement also stresses that acts like this one cannot undermine democracy.
"Those who call themselves 'revolutionaries' must know that SYRIZA cannot be terrorized and that the government will continue its fight against corruption and the underworld," the statement said.
For her part, government spokesman Olga Gerovasili strongly condemned the attack and said that a legally elected government cannot be intimidated into backing down.
"The perpetrators of such 'spontaneous' and 'revolutionary' acts, as well as all those who in recent weeks have been trying to poison the political climate in each and every way, must know that their plans have failed," she said.
