Pressed by the need for Greece to have a new government and a representative at the meeting of finance ministers in Brussels, the Council of Ministers of PASOK is meeting one last time before agreeing on the name of the new Prime Minister of Greece.

Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou is expected to resign as soon as the composition of the new coalition government, that will assume the helm of the Greek Titanic from tomorrow, is clarified. The Council of Ministers´ meeting was moved from 6 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the afternoon on Sunday. Many local political analysts expect that by the end of the day the problem will be solved, but CNN comments that Papandreou's resignation will come as early as Monday. Government sources indicate that today's Finance Minister, Evangelos Venizelos, will be present at the Eurogroup meeting on Monday, but all cards are still officially closed.

The leader of the far-right party George Karadzaferis argued that PASOK and New Democracy have already agreed on the name of the new Prime Minister and are currently negotiating the details. "We are now living the moments of tactical manoeuvres of the two major parties," said Karadzaferis and added that he wants to believe that the participants in this arena will assume their responsibilities. "The country should not remain even for one hour without a Prime Minister or government. A government of national consensus should be established immediately, today," urged National Assembly President Filippos Petsalnikos.

"Turning the economic crisis into a national political adventure is dangerous," said the head of the Greek Chamber of Industry, Dimitris Daskalopoulos, in connection with the government thriller over the weekend. The modern political system failed to keep our economy strong, says Daskalopoulos and adds: "The duty of the responsible party leaders is to ensure the European prospects of the country by submitting to a bold political coalition and show political maturity and responsibility."

Based on latest information George Papandreou has requested a meeting at the Presidency with Carlos Papoulias and New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras. It will be held during the evening.
