The Greek police is in full mobilization since a famous Greek businessman was kidnapped today. According to Skai TV, the entrepreneur had recently obtained a bond loan amounting to 2.3 million euro. Naftemporiki newspaper reports that the kidnapping had taken place in the Athens suburb of Koropi whereas To Vima states that it had happened in the neighbourhood of Gerakas. According to To Vima again, the businessman was engaged in bread manufacturing and marketing.
This is the second businessman in the bread industry to have been a victim of kidnapping. Christos Venetis, founder of the eponymous chain of bakeries, was kidnapped in 1996. According to unconfirmed reports, the kidnappers’ modus operandi is reminiscent of the kidnapping of shipping tycoon Kikkos Martinos in December 2013. The businessman was returning home when two cars had ambushed him. His DNA and personal belongings have been found at the scene of the kidnapping.
So far, the police have not confirmed the information nor have they denied it.
