The famous Greek singer Manolis Lidakis was caught with drugs. 2.1 grams of cocaine, 25.2 grams of hashish and 59 Xanax pills were found in his car. In order to purchase the latter sedative pills the man needed to have the so called “red prescription” but he did not have it. Manolis Lidakis was arrested on the national highway Athens-Lamia. He was randomly stopped for a check by policemen from the Prevention of Crime division. The 48 year old singer told the policemen that the drugs are for personal use and that he does not have a prescription for the pills. After the policemen put handcuffs on his hands, the singer said he did not feel good and that he has chest pain, so he was taken to a hospital in Livadia. The doctors gave him a shot and he was taken to the local police station right away.
The found quantity of drugs was not enough to keep him in the station so Lidakis was released late last night on a €5000 bail. Every first and 15th day of the month the singer has to go to the police station in the Athenian neighborhood Alimos, where he lives.
Friends of his suppose that his unstable psychological state is due to the loss of his parents and the end of his recent relationship with a woman. This is also the reason why he turned to drugs.
