Two victims died in the fire that broke out late last night in a plumbing supplies store in the Athens suburb of Paleo Faliro. They are a 33-year-old fire-fighter and a woman who died in the flames. Another woman, almost unconscious from smoke suffocation, was taken to Sotiria hospital.
The fire is now under control and an investigation is being carried out to establish both its causes and the circumstances in which the fire-fighter died. As we reported, the explosion happened late last night in a three-storey house, the ground floor of which housed the plumbing store. The blaze raged for more than three hours and almost completely destroyed the building.
