So far, the authorities have apprehended seven people in connection with the case. According to the first unconfirmed reports, they involve five Bulgarians and two Greeks, one of whom is a lawyer.

Sources told GRReporter that the seven people had been apprehended this morning in an attempt to sell a child to policemen. A publication in Ethnos newspaper states that the child in question is a 10-month old boy.

The police operation is taking place throughout the Magnesia region which borders the region of Farsala, where little blond Maria was found in a Roma camp last October. The hospital in Lamia where Maria was born is located 100 km away from Volos.

The operation involves officers of the local police stations and special forces of the Greek police in Athens. The action is continuing but no official information on the course of actions is available at present. Sources told GRReporter that no official statements on the case would be made by the end of the day.
