Torrential rain in Greece will not stop before Saturday and the number of accidents with cars swept away by swollen rivers has increased. Last night the river near Aspro village near Kilkis that had suddenly risen swept away a car with two passengers coming from Macedonia. One of the passengers is missing, the police and units of the fire department are searching for him.

Meanwhile, the rescue teams that had been searching for a 60-year-old man along the bed of river Galikos in the Thessaloniki neighbourhood of Diavata since yesterday have found his body. The authorities are clarifying the circumstances under which he had fallen into the waters of the swollen river.

Meteorologists warn that the rains and thunderstorms will continue over the next 48 hours. The natural phenomena will be especially intense in the Ionian Sea, the Peloponnese, the eastern parts of central Greece, on Evia and Crete islands and in the eastern Cyclades; after midnight, bad weather will envelop the Dodecanese.
