153 deputies from the ruling coalition involving New Democracy and PASOK rejected the no-confidence motion against the government of Antonis Samaras: 124 deputies voted "for" and 17 abstained as shown by the results of the midnight vote that ended the three-day debate on the future of the government.
The no confidence motion had been tabled by the opposition SYRIZA party as a response to the police raid in the occupied building of the Greek national radio station ERT.
"The government has won. The elections will be in 2016," said Prime Minister Antonis Samaras shortly after midnight. "The government was defeated. New measures, property tax and budget are in store. Samaras said nothing about them. We are going on," was the comment of Dimitris Papadimoulis, a deputy of SYRIZA.

The only surprise of the evening was PASOK deputy Theodora Tsakri who voted in favour of the no confidence motion against the government tabled by SYRIZA. She was immediately disaffiliated from the Socialist parliamentary group and, as a result, it now has 27 members instead of 28, thus reducing the number of deputies in the ruling majority to 154 from 155.
