As hosts, readers of the Greek page of our site answer the question, "Will tourists from Bulgaria visit Greece this summer?" 53% of respondents are of the opinion that there is no reason for Bulgarian tourists not to visit Greece. 27% believe that politicians only confuse ordinary people who get along very well. This response is associated with the possible reaction of Bulgarian tourists to the law that was imposed on companies doing business with Bulgaria. This law provoked a hot debate, which involved not only the affected Greek companies but also Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. Subsequently, the controversial 26% tax was changed. As a consequence of all this, 13% of readers believe that the tax will have a significant impact on the flow of Bulgarian tourists in Greece. 7% of our readers see Turkey as a rival that attracts Bulgarian tourists with low prices and equally good conditions.
Political and economic problems have their impact on the opinion of our readers and on their decision for a holiday in Greece during the upcoming summer. For the majority of Bulgarian readers, Greece remains the main destination and a desirable place for an unforgettable summer vacation. A significant part of the readers of our English page is influenced by the uncertain situation in Greece. The vast majority of readers of the Greek version however hope that Bulgarian tourists will prefer their southern neighbour for their summer vacation this year too. For now, the politicians cannot spoil the relations that people have built over the years.
