Things are different in our latest poll which asked you, "How far do you think the conflict between Greece and Germany will go?" The controversial issue that has set the two countries against each other is Greece's request for war reparations to the amount of GDP for 33 years. It has requested such reparations from Italy and Bulgaria as well. One of the options is the preference of GRReporter readers, thus predetermining the results of the poll.
71% of the readers of our Bulgarian page support the option that Greece will abandon the reparations and Germany will grant more loans to it. The second most popular thesis that Greece will confiscate German sites on its territory starting from the Goethe Institute has only 13% of votes. 9% of readers believe that Germany will pay the requested reparations and 7% consider Greek Minister of Finance Yanis Varoufakis who will break the severity of his German counterpart Wolfgang Schaeuble as a major contributor to this.
10% less readers of the English page of the site, or 61% of them, believe the most likely outcome of the dispute between the two countries is the scenario in which Greece abandons the requested reparations and Germany grants more loans in return. 17% of respondents believe that Germany will pay the requested reparations. 13% argue that Greece will confiscate German property on its territory, starting with the building of the Goethe Institute. The option that the Greek Minister of Finance will be able to break the severity of Minister Schaeuble and push the demands for reparations ranks last again.
Readers of the Greek page of GRReporter are the most hesitant. 37% consider as the most likely the option that Greece will abandon its demands, in return for which Germany will grant another loan. The option according to which Germany will pay the requested reparations ranks close to it with 32%. Each of the two last options is the preference of 16% of the readers. Some of the readers are of the opinion that Greece will confiscate German properties that are on its territory, starting from the Goethe Institute. The other group is confident that Yanis Varoufakis will be able to convince his colleague Schaeuble of the fairness of the requested reparations and Greece will receive a huge amount of money which will help it emerge from the present crisis.
