Along with the news of the announced referendum, the situation with the banks and the limit on ATM withdrawals, all this against the background of negotiations between the Greek government and creditors that resemble an unending political thriller, it is time to summarize our latest poll. The question was, "Where is the place of Greece according to you?" and the results are a sample summary of the impact that the events over the past week has had on the attitudes of our readers.
The majority of readers of GRReporter's Bulgarian page are of the opinion that Greece's place is where it is now, in the euro zone, which is the preference of 40% of readers. About 27% of respondents believe the place of Greece is outside the euro zone but as a member of the European Union. 17% see Greece as a member of Putin's Eurasian Union. According to 16% of our readers, exiting the euro zone will be only the beginning and leaving the EU and the Euro-Atlantic pact will follow as well.
The English-speaking audience has more pessimistic expectations of the future of Greece as part of the euro zone. 35% of readers of our English page are of the opinion that Greece's future is tied to the euro. 28% stand behind the idea that Greece will return to the drachma but as a member of the European Union. According to 22% of respondents, the separation with the euro zone will be only the beginning that will be followed by exiting the EU and NATO. 15% believe the place of Greece is in Putin's Eurasian Union.
The most ardent advocates of keeping Greece in the euro zone are the readers of the Greek page. 48% of them believe Greece should remain in the euro zone whereas 23% of respondents do not consider it mandatory, as they see Greece as a member of the European Union, but without using the euro. 16% believe it should join the Eurasian Union that is dominated by Russia. In addition to exiting the euro zone, 13% of readers think exiting the EU and NATO will follow as well.
The poll results indicate that the majority of our readers want Greece to keep the euro and remain a member of the European Union.
