Moscow compiled a list of politicians from Europe who got banned from entering Russia.
The existence of the list was confirmed on Friday by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. He then pointed out that the list is a reaction against the restrictive measures the West imposed on Russia because of the conflict in Ukraine.
The list has a total of 89 persons. Among them is a Greek, Theodoros Margelos, businessman and investment consultant, who worked in Ukraine. In addition, Margelos was accused by Defence Minister Panos Kamenos for complicity in the CDS case.
Reports have stated that the first-instance court in Athens ruled that the allegations of the Independent Greeks’ leader regarding the trade in the Greek government bonds CDS are false and defamatory.
Mr. Margelos has stated to Kathimerini that he had no idea why his name appeared in the list.
An EU official told Agence France Presse that "in recent months, Russia has banned a number of European politicians from entering its territory. But now it set out to make their names public."
Mark Rutte, in turn, said that his government condemns this decision. "The Russian list is not based on international law, it is not transparent."
