The scheme's first phase (20 April - 20 June, 2015) was applied in 14 police departments in Attica, Thessaloniki, Patras, Halkida, Rhodes, Heraklion, Ioannina and Larissa.

A decision of the Greek police chief has introduced a permanent hour for citizens and representatives of institutions or social partners, from Monday, 7 September. The scheme had been piloted for two months under the supervision of Yannis Panousis, deputy minister of citizen protection.

The citizen's hour will be held every week on Monday, from 18:00 to 20:00, across the country's police departments. During that time, police department heads or their deputies will accept citizens, representatives of institutions or social partners in their region, after prior appointments by telephone. Citizens will be given a chance to put across their ideas, file requests, complaints and proposals on issues related to police work.

The phone numbers of police stations across the country, which citizens can call to obtain information or make appointments, can be found on a special banner at the police homepage, www.hellenicpolice.gr.
