A double barrel hunting gun is the murder weapon which took the life of 42 years old Cyprus media magnate Andy Hadzikostis little before 21:00 o’clock in the Monday night close to his home in Engomi.

The news for the murder of Hadzikostis shocked the political world in Cyprus. Proof of this is that president Dimitris Christofias suspended the negotiations with Mehmet Ali Talat yesterday and went in the house of the deceased as the in.gr host is writing. Mr. Christofias gave orders for a quick investigation of the murderers. After investigators and coroners collected and analyzed the evidence late in the evening on Monday in Nicosia was held a conference, chairman of which was minister of justice Loucas Louca. The conference was aimed at assessment of the situation and plan the following steps of the authorities.

According to press attaché of the police Michalis Kastounotos from the preliminary investigation it becomes clear that Andy Hadzikostis was shot twice by a gun, which is from an uncertain for the moment type. Mr. Kastounotos announced that two witnesses were questioned and today is expected to have more interrogations. He announced it is still too early to say anything about the motives of the criminals.
