A strong explosion from a hand grenade shook a multi-storey building on Ipsiladou Street in the Triandria neighbourhood of Thessaloniki killing a 35-year-old man of Kurdish origin. The accident happened at 23:10 h on Tuesday when the victim was carefully examining the grenade and it suddenly exploded. The blast completely destroyed a flat on the ground floor of the building, and damaged adjacent buildings too.

The anti-terrorism service in Northern Greece took the case. The killed Kurd was working in connection with a couple of his compatriots, who had been captured several days earlier in Thessaloniki in possession of false documents. The German authorities have issued an international arrest warrant against the women for alleged involvement in a terrorist organization.
