The Greek police, in the presence of three prosecutors, yesterday raided fugitive businessman Anastasios Pallis’ house in Voula. The "findings" are shocking to the prosecutors because, according to the official police report, the authorities found 7 rifles and another 13 guns but in another house of the fugitive, in the neighbourhood of Paleo Faliro.
According to sources, the raid carried out on Tuesday had been ordered by the prosecutor on the basis of a separate file of the origin of the weapons and tanks stored in the museum in the municipality of Mesogeia, which the businessman maintained. A regular investigator will undertake the case whereas, on Wednesday, the prosecutor on duty is going to charge the businessman and the security guards of the houses with possession of weapons.
Independent sources had directed the prosecutors to the search, which involved weapons experts called by the magistrates. An investigation will reveal whether the weapons have some connection with those hidden by Golden Dawn, as stated by a British citizen.
The anti-terrorism service continues to investigate the case.
As is known, prosecutor of the Supreme Court Euterpe Koutzamani had ordered a separate administrative investigation on the basis of a letter sent by a British citizen according to whom, in the house of the businessman, there were weapons hidden in chests.
The Greek police have issued the following message:
"A search carried out in a Greek fugitive’s house in Voula, Attica, by order of the prosecutor of Athens and with the assistance of the Internal Investigations Department of the Greek police, has so far found the following items:
- Seven rifles for which a permit for possession of shotguns has been issued but which do not fall within this category.
- Similar weapons have been found during a parallel search of the house of the same person in the district of Paleo Faliro.
- Thirteen rifles for which a permit for possession of shotguns has been issued but which should be verified if they fall within this category.
- Sixty knives of a different type - folding knives, daggers.
- Ten laser-guided binoculars, and
- Two TASER stun guns
The abovementioned weapons have been seized and the searches continue."
In addition to the weapons in Anastasios Pallis’ house, the authorities found one anti-aircraft gun and a Chevrolet car in two containers associated with the businessman.
In particular, during a check, the office combating economic crimes in cooperation with the 5th Customs Office of Piraeus found in one container a disassembled Canadian anti-aircraft gun from the 1940s but the authorities are not yet aware whether it is functioning. Sappers arrived at the place to assess the state of the Canadian anti-aircraft gun.
A Chevrolet car was found in the other container, which the authorities thoroughly searched in order to verify whether it contained weapons.
The police still do not know if the "findings" in the two containers are accompanied by the relevant certificates, showing that they are museum exhibits.
It should be noted that the authorities had encountered difficulties in the detection of the two containers.
